Samprene Butchers Knives

Our range of Samprene Butchers knives include steak knives, cimetar curved butchers knives, pointy scimitar knives and specialist knives, such as our lamb skinner

Butchers knives are made with a dense, long blade that has the strength to get through the toughest flesh and bone. Some can be used for the skinning of animals. A professional butcher would opt for the longer butcher knives as they would use these on larger joints, and sectioning of carcasses. A butcher knife for home use could settle for a smaller blade. There are specific tools depending on what you are cutting, we also make poultry shears and fish knives.

Choosing The Right Butchers Knife

Whilst there are many different types of butcher knives available, all of them have the same purpose - to cut through large portions of meat, bones and animal carcasses.

Here are the types of butchers knives available in our Samprene range:

  • Scimitar Steak Knife - These knives have a slight curve to them, making them a good choice when cutting close to the bone.

  • Cimetar Curved Butchers Knife - Featuring a prominent curve, this butchers knife allows you to make a large cut and pull through the meat cleanly.

  • Lamb Skinner - A skinning knife has a greater curve towards the end allowing quick removal of hide and skin.

  • Straight Butchers Knife - A straight butchers knife is a great multi-purpose tool ideal for slicing, cutting and chopping meat. This knife is considered a butcher's everyday essential.

Our Samprene range features knives available with different coloured handles to allow you to assign them for certain uses.

FAQs for Butchers Knives

Why Do Butcher Knives Need To Be So Sharp?

Butchers knives need to be able to precisely slice meats, cut large joints of meat and portion carcasses. A sharp knife is safer than a blunt one - it allows easier use and less effort on your part,  and should be regularly sharpened

Why are Butcher Knives Curved?

Butchers knives are curved as they are generally used where bones are present. A curved knife can cut closer to the bone, meaning that more meat can be extracted.

What Is The Difference Between a Kitchen Knife and a Butcher's Knife?

A kitchen knife, or chef’s knife, is generally used for a multitude of cooking tasks and is an everyday knife. A Butchers knife has a more specific use, the cutting of very large meat portions, and is less likely to be used everyday by a chef.
